Respite and inspiration come in funny forms. Today for me, it was Professor Higgins & Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady. The rhetoric is beautifully witty. And the plot, based on Shaw’s Pygmalion, clever and well-rounded. If you can get past the strikingly time-capsuled references to women (1964 movie, so I’m sure you can imagine)… there’s a pretty momentous love story and the acting is so rich that you can almost feel the whole thing right along with them. Who doesn’t want a Saturday afternoon-early evening studded with that?
