My hair looks so red in these photos! Must be the light? Ok well, whatever my moody hair is doing… I must tell you… the last thing I expected from this dropwaist dress was for it to be flattering. But hey, pleasant surprise! I’ll take it. So let this be an encouragement for you dropwaist doubters to reconsider and give this fresh silhouette a shot. I love popping neon yellow against cobalt, so this sparkling LOFT necklace & the heels were no-brainers. And those faithful black leather jackets go with just about anything, so I loved sporting it with this look.

Here are some of my favorite runway looks from the second night of Minneapolis-St. Paul Fashion Week, MNFashion‘s The Shows:
Christopher Straub did not fail to rock. As usual. He presented a mix of hard and soft looks in his collection. By far the most awe-striking was his ornate, light blue gown. The texture was stunning, with small organza squares individually folded and hand-sewn to create the whimsical effect. I also pretty much melted when I saw the mermaid faux snake-skin leather dress coming down. Sleek and simple with a unique flare.
This collection by Lindsey Hopkins, new designer on the scene in Minneapolis, was a fun surprise. These were the first of her designs I have seen. My seat mate for the show, and fellow blogger partner in crime, Chelsea and I were totes head over heels for this collection. The burgundy colors, the unique working of the pleat, the taupe leather! Couldn’t get enough. With an impressive resume already (including features in Elle magazine and mentorship by NYC-based designer Christian Cota), I’m looking forward to see what she does next and am delighted to have her and her taupe leather pants here in Minneapolis.
